One of my favorite aspects of being a photographer is the new ideas people constantly want to expose you to. There was a certain level of cruelty I chose to ignore, and a close friend promptly put and end to it. “If we’re going to talk issues here, why would I care about animals over homelessness; starving children; or the plethora of other socioeconomic problems?” Well, in all honesty, after seeing a duck with the top of his beak ripped off, wheezing with every breath, and attempting, instinctually, to quack even though it was no longer possible, I realized that it was ok to care about all of those things simply by choosing to do so.
Sanctuary is a body of work dedicated to the men and women who provide previously abused animals a safe place to live the rest of their lives in peace. I will be attending the Tamerline farm fundraiser on October 1st 2016, and look forward to sharing more photographs illustrating what goes into making this possible.
